Who We Are

The Youth Leadership Society of British Columbia (YLSBC) promotes education and the development of youth leadership skills through experiential learning. Our youth-driven programs are designed to foster good citizenship and build their life skills. It is our endeavor that the youth are laying a good foundation for Canada.

Our seeds were planted in 1997 when Ravi joined Boy Scouts of America as a parent volunteer and then as a leader. Subsequently, he joined Scouts Canada as a leader, remained committed to youth development, and finally founded Steps Together Foundation (STF) in 2011. STF is a family foundation which ran youth programs formally under an organizational umbrella. The programs proved to be popular with many families in the lower mainland, and there arose a need for a community service organization. Finally, YLSBC was founded on October 30, 2014 and officially launched it on September 13, 2015.

The youth programs originally run under Steps Together Foundation were transitioned to YLSBC, except the annual Youth Public Speaking Contest and Bursaries program which STF still sponsors.

Currently, both organizations work in tandem, utilizing their unique strengths and delivers service to the community.  We are pleased to share our journey of the past five years on the following pages. Our youth, parents, friends, and families believed in our vision and participated wholeheartedly, thus building this organization today. We all, a big family, collectively share its success by laying its foundation one brick at a time.

Here is our story…
